We recognize that this transition may be challenging for students and families. Our aim is to ensure that students remain with their classroom teacher through these transitions. To support this, we have developed a comprehensive plan that prioritizes educational continuity and student well-being.

WRDSB is fully committed to providing the necessary supports to ensure a smooth transition for students and staff and to mitigate the impact on student academics.

How will physical education be supported for students at the school?

We continue to work with school staff to support appropriate curriculum planning to accommodate these changes. Our primary goal is to ensure student and staff safety. Students and staff continue to have access to the outdoor property at the school for outdoor learning opportunities, including physical education.

Will families have the option to keep kids together?

We made the decision to install 12 portables on Elizabeth Ziegler PS property, the maximum limit that would allow a timely return to in-person learning. More than 12 portables on Elizabeth Ziegler PS property would require extensive infrastructure additions that would delay a return to in-person learning. This means that not all staff and students will be able to remain at Elizabeth Ziegler PS.

After careful consideration, we developed a comprehensive plan to prioritize educational continuity and student well-being. Our aim is to ensure students remain with their classroom teacher through these transitions. Depending on their program, we recognize this may mean students from the same family may be temporarily relocated to separate school sites for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.
