Elizabeth Ziegler P.S is excited to participate in our first battery recycling program.   Hopefully this opportunity can benefit our community and environment in several ways.

By recycling batteries Elizabeth Ziegler P.S can help our environment by:

  • Diverting hazardous materials from our landfills
  • Preserving our natural resources by reducing the need to mine these precious materials from ore.

This is a great opportunity to give back to our environment.  Students are asked to bring in their spent (dead) batteries and place them in the bin outside the office starting  NOW!

Acceptable Batteries:   

*Single use (non-rechargeable) batteries (AAA, AA, 9-volt, D and C)

*Lithium batteries  (place in plastic bag or tape both ends before placing into container to prevent short-circuiting)

* Button cell batteries – tape both ends before putting in container

* Corroded or leaking batteries (place in plastic bag before placing in container)
